The Austrian Institute of Economic Research (WIFO) was founded by Friedrich August von Hayek and Ludwig von Mises in 1927. It has a professional staff of about 100 employees. WIFO has a long tradition in the field of macroeconomic and microeconomic analyses and policy. The main research areas are: (i) macroeconomics and European economic policy; (ii) labour market, income and social security; (iii) industrial economics, innovation and trade, (iv) structural change and regional development and (v) environment, agriculture and energy.


WIFO will be mainly responsible for "The role of services as inputs in manufacturing" in WP2.
